Candice Singer.jpgName: Candice Singer

Age: 63

Location: Newton, PA

Occupation: I've been an elementary school teacher for over 40 years.

Interesting hobby: I have the pleasure and blessing to teach children at our local Chabad House in the Alef-Bet program.

I've been learning with JNet since: 2006

I heard about JNet via: Our shluchim, Rabbi Yehuda and Mrs. Miriam Shemtov, have always been a constant source of support. They were the ones who directed me to JNet as the perfect opportunity to increase my Torah study and include more in depth study of Chassidus. My assumption was that I would be paired with someone my age. Sounded like a shidduch to me. I was ready and raring to go! To my surprise, my chavrusa, Devorah Leah, was a young woman my daughter's age. Ahh, but as Rabbi Meir taught: "You should not look at the barrel but at the wine that is in it. A new barrel may be filled with old wine…." Off to the races we went! She always seems to know me better than I know myself. This learning and partnership reached into my soul and led to doing more mitzvot.

I am currently learning: From Torah we then studied Tanya, various maamarim, and, currently, the Shulchan Oruch. Devorah Leah has a keen sense and grew to know me so well. She made suggestions for the next book of study and challenge, always asking if I concur.

An interesting experience I had with JNet: The uncanny connection of all things studied still amazes me. How did Hashem know? How did the Sages know? How is there always more and more, deeper and deeper?

Heartwarming surprises with JNet: My weekly half hour with Devorah Leah is rarely missed. We've been keeping our partnership together for over nine years and we've become dear friends. Thank you JNet for this partner, my chavrusa.
